A Brooklyn-based youth baseball team is training hard for a big tournament coming up this season.
The Brooklyn Blue Storm youth baseball league is representing Brooklyn in the AABC World Series in Connecticut next month.
The whole team, including the coaches, are volunteer based.
The team, which is made up of boys 8 years old and younger, practices at St. John's Park in Crown Heights.
They say the park, which they use as their home field, was not always an ideal place to learn and practice due to rough dirt and an overgrown infield and outfield.
Coaches say it wasn’t until they got the city's attention to maintain the field for them that they started feeling comfortable to practice there.
Right now, the team says they are focusing on being on their "A-game" before the series in July. The team has also started a GoFundMe page to help with the financial expenses of the tournament.
