Some teenagers living in public housing gathered in Brooklyn Thursday to show that there's no age requirement for shaping the world around them.
The New York City Housing Authority launched 10 Youth Leadership Councils around the city late last year. Before long, hundreds signed up, jumping at the chance to give back and be heard.
Each council takes on a different project, such as a Bronx group that helped clean up the Mott Haven Community Center in April.
On Thursday, all the councils gathered for a special summit during which they presented their projects. They put on special performances and exchanged their ideas.
NYCHA wants to grow the program moving forward, with the goal of expanding to 15 Youth Leadership Councils and having it involve countless teens.
