5 people get stuck in NYCHA elevator for over an hour

EMS crews came to the rescue after receiving a call that five people were trapped in an elevator inside 3125 Park Ave. in Morrisania Monday evening.
News 12 is told that one person was hospitalized after getting stuck between two floors for an hour and a half in the New York City Housing Authority building.
One of the people who were temporarily trapped, a 19-year-old woman who did not wish to appear on camera, says she was in the elevator with her mother, sister and two younger brothers — who both have asthma. She says her mother called 911 after realizing nothing was being done to free them.
The mother's cellphone battery wound up dying while she was on the phone with police. So they stayed wedged between the 18th and 19th floors until crews freed them.
According to the city's Department of Buildings website, there are currently three open violations regarding elevator issues at 3125 Park. Ave.
