A teacher from the Bronx has been honored by a national nonprofit group for his outstanding impact on his students.
Rudy Blanco, a public school teacher at Dreamyard Preparatory School, was awarded the title of national honoree by the Honored group.
Blanco is credited with leading a digital revolution at the Bronx school. He proposed a new position for himself - technology coordinator - to educate students on essential digital skills and to train teachers in the use of online resources.
The award focuses on an important impact on at least one student.
Student Noorjahan Aktar credits Blanco with transforming her life with his teaching.
