Police arrested three people Saturday in connection to a fire that destroyed several homes in Unionport.
As News 12 reported, the fire broke out on Olmstead Avenue Thursday afternoon and completely destroyed two of the six buildings it affected.
Police say illegally ignited fireworks were the cause of the flames. Eight firefighters and a civilian were also injured in the blaze.
Police say of the three suspects, Nandalall Nabindranauth, who lives on Haviland Avenue, illegally ignited fireworks in a reckless manner, causing the fire to spark.
Nabindranauth and a second man, Shivnarine Lauchman, of Schenectady, are both charged with criminal mischief, fourth-degree arson and second-degree reckless endangerment.
The third man, Alejandro Foler - who lives at the same address where the fire began - is charged with unlawful possession of fireworks.
News 12 is told some of the homes will wind up being demolished.
The Red Cross provided emergency assistance to nine households affected by the fire.
