The search continues for a hit-and-run driver who struck an East Flatbush 16-year-old, leaving her hospitalized for weeks.
"I missed exams," laments Kenya Kissoon, the victim whose classmates are just finishing up the last few weeks of school.
On June 10, she was riding her bike near East 39th Street and Farragut Road. She says she stopped at the intersection to wait for a white SUV.
"I stopped for the car to go, but he told me to go," she says. "Then he just went and didn't stop."
The vehicle slammed into her, breaking the young athlete's pelvic bone in three places and causing head trauma.
"It's terrible," says her mother, Sondrene Percival. "This is the first time ever my child is in a position like this. She's very active, runs about all over."
Percival is asking for anyone with information on the driver to come forward.
Witnesses can contact police by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
