The Brooklyn Cyclones honored the late Detective Miosotis Familia Monday during an NYPD Appreciation Night.
The team raised funds for the family of Familia in conjunction with the New York City Patrolmen's Benevolent Association. Familia was killed in the line of duty while sitting inside a mobile command vehicle in the Bronx.
The Cyclones offered 500 field box tickets for $15. The money will be donated to the detective's family.
Familia's children also had the opportunity to throw ceremonial first pitches.
The detective’s family says they were grateful for the community’s support.
Current and retired NYPD officers were in attendance for the event. They say this NYPD Appreciation Night was especially important because it was for such a great cause.
