Two men who are accused of impersonating police officers and robbing a man at gunpoint.
The victim, who asked to not be identified, says he returned home -- near East 215th Street and Holland Avenue -- from picking up groceries around 5 p.m. June 8 when he heard two knocks at his door. He answered the door, thinking it was his sister coming back from the hospital.
That's when police say the suspects displayed badges and pushed themselves inside the apartment, forcing the victim to the ground at gunpoint. The victim says he was on the floor with a towel over his head and that the two men repeatedly asked him the location of a package that was delivered to a neighbor. The suspects fled the scene after they could not find the package.
The victim says the suspects stole nearly $800 that he was saving for his sister's eye surgery.
One suspect is described as a man in his 20s, standing about 5 feet 5 inches and weighing about 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing all black. The other is also believed to be a man in his 20s, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing all white.
Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
