An NYPD officer is accused of assaulting a Coney Island man in July.
Raymond Crespo, 23, says he was hanging out with friends at the corner of Mermaid Avenue and West 32nd Street July 8 when a cup he was holding dropped in front of Officer O'Keefe Thompson, spilling near the officer's foot. Crespo says the situation escalated and that the officer brutally attacked him.
With an injury to his right eye, Crespo went to Coney Island Hospital, where he says he reported the incident to police. He says he suffered a concussion and is now taking legal action.
Crespo and his mother are both in therapy after what they describe as a traumatizing experience.
Law enforcement sources tell News 12 that prosecutors from the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office met with Crespo and are actively investigating the allegations against Thompson.
