A cat that was saved by a neighbor when her owner's home went up in flames in Bay Ridge is getting another chance at life.
The owner of Brigitte Jones, 66-year-old Edwina Golas, died in the fire last Saturday.
The cat was brought to the Veterinary Emergency and Referral Group with an elevated breathing rate. She was treated with oxygen and airway-opening medication.
She was also given antibiotics after X-rays revealed the early stages of an infection in her lungs.
One of Golas' family friends is adopting Brigitte. Golas had made the arrangement in case a tragedy like Saturday's occurred.
News 12 is told Brigitte is responding well to medication, and doctors say she should be just fine.
