Mayor announces affordable housing plan in Greenpoint

Posted: Updated:
BROOKLYN -

Mayor Bill de Blasio announced during a town hall Wednesday evening that hundreds of more affordable housing units could be on their way to Greenpoint.

It’s been more than 30 years since Greenpoint Hospital’s doors closed. Over the years, previous administrations have tried to turn the hospital into low-income housing to no avail

Many have run into problems with developers and issues with the site itself.  However, de Blasio says he is optimistic.

The city is currently seeking proposals for the design construction and management of the property.
