Bug eating festival held in Bushwick

BROOKLYN -

A growing group of insect enthusiasts celebrated edible bugs at Brooklyn's first Bug Festival.

The event was held in Bushwick.

Chef Ivan Garcia says bugs are protein-packed and people are starting to take notice.

He says he’s excited to prepare dishes for people because many people don't know how healthy insects are.

"The majority of the world are already actually eating insects as a part of their regular diet and we are actually in the minority. We think of bugs as the creepy crawly things in our houses, not as an edible shelf product,” says Brooklyn Bugs organizer, Joseph Yoon.
