Cheddar morning business update 9/13: Amazon eyes Boston for 2nd HQ

  • Apple launched its highly anticipated high end iPhone 10 but investors are not impressed. Apple shares fell yesterday. Analysts say most of the phones functionality had already been leaked and the big concern is that the phone won't ship until November 3rd which is much later than expected.
  • Amazon's second headquarters in North America could be built in Boston. Bloomberg reports several execs are pulling for the city.  Some advantages are that Boston is close to Harvard and MIT and its airports offers a lot of non stop flights to Seattle and Washington DC. Amazon has invited states and local governments to submit proposals as it could mean up to 50,000 new jobs.
  • Olive Garden’s Never Ending Pasta Pass returns this week. For $100, customers can get unlimited pasta and breadsticks for eight weeks. The pass goes on sale Thursday at 2 p.m. EST at PastaPass.com. Last year they sold out in one second.
