Women wearing bridalwear marched against domestic violence Tuesday in the streets of New York.
The annual march honors the life of Gladys Ricart, a Dominican woman from Washington Heights, who was fatally shot in New Jersey on Sept. 26, 1999, by an abusive former boyfriend on the day she was to wed her fiancé.
Over 100 women, some survivors of domestic violence, gathered at 161st Street at Christ Church in Washington Heights to participate in the march.
The women marched in their wedding dresses for several miles from Washington Heights and into the Bronx.
