The Diocese of Brooklyn held a special Mass Friday for the victims of last week's earthquake in Mexico.

For the past week and a half, the church's faithful had been inundated with images and tales of destruction in Mexico City and the surrounding area.

They turned their feelings of helplessness to a higher power, saying that faith should never be underestimated.

Parishioners said they were also praying for victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and other Caribbean islands.
