A donor organization encouraged more people to become organ donors at an enrollment drive Wednesday at NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn.

LiveOnNY says there aren't enough registered organ donors in the state, and that every 18 hours a New Yorker dies waiting for an organ transplant.

Prasha Tuladhar, 29, attended the drive and knows the value of organ donation. She suffered from an autoimmune disease called scleroderma, which impacted her breathing and caused her to need a double lung transplant.

This is the third year LiveOnNY has organized donor enrollment day. It says more people sign up each year.
