Posted: Updated:
BROOKLYN -

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is now apologizing for comments he made to a female reporter.

Newton told the reporter that he thought her knowledge of football was "funny" because she was a female. His comments have created buzz on social media and even cost him a sponsorship with Dannon Yogurt.

The quarterback has since apologized saying that his choice of words was degrading and disrespectful to women.

Newtown said his comments are unacceptable and that as the father of two daughters he tries to instill in them the belief that they can be whatever they want.
