A Williamsbridge man is being questioned by police in the death of his wife, officials say.
Chanel Ricart, 38, was found unresponsive by her daughter inside their Carpenter Avenue bedroom Sunday.
She was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.
According to police, Ricart had strangulation marks around her neck, although her husband of 18 years told police she had fallen asleep after a night of drinking and taking prescription pills.
The New York Daily News reports Ricart's husband is being questioned by police after his statements did not line up with the evidence at the scene.
According to reports, the couple got into an argument the night before Ricart died.
However, family members tell News 12 they do not believe their loved one could kill his wife of 18 years.
Police say no charges have been filed, and a medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death.
