Someone tried to kidnap a baby just steps away from her mother in Crown Heights Wednesday morning, police say.
Sources say the mother left her 1-year-old unattended in a stroller before entering the chabad headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway.
While she was inside, police say a 26-year-old woman took the baby and began walking away.
The mother saw this and yelled for help, according to authorities, and good Samaritans stopped the woman and alerted police.
Police say charges are pending, and the suspect may have an unspecified mental condition.
The baby is safe with her mother.
