A dispute between Coney Island neighbors left a 31-year-old woman dead Wednesday night, police say.

Residents of 2007 Surf Ave. say they awoke to find spilled blood and police officers in their hallway -- grim, visible reminders of Shymeka Tart's slaying in front of her seventh-floor apartment.

Police responded to a 911 call around 9:30 p.m., they say, and rushed Tart to Coney Island Hospital, where she was pronounced dead from stab wounds.

They say they arrested a 40-year-old woman at the scene.

The two had allegedly been in a dispute for a long time.

One neighbor who does not speak English well told News 12 that they often heard arguing but did not really understand what the two women said.
