Funeral to be held for 91-year-old home invasion victim
Funeral services will be held today for the 91-year-old victim of last week's Bed-Stuy home invasion, as police say they are closer to finding the suspects.
Waldiman Thompson was killed in the invasion of his Decatur Street home on Oct. 11.
His 100-year-old wife, Ethlyn, was able to break free and call 911 after two men broke in and tied up the couple, putting pillow cases and clothes over the victims' heads.
Family and friends gathered Thursday at Thompson's wake saying that they couldn't imagine who would do this to such a sweet old couple.
Police said Friday morning that they have a person of interest in custody. They confirm they are actively looking for another man as well.
Investigators are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
Borough President Eric Adams is adding $1,000 to that reward.
