Nine children were adopted into six families on National Adoption Day in Union County.
In many of the cases, family members were behind the adoptions that took place Friday during the county’s 10th Annual Adoption Day.
Moira Quinn, of Rahway, now has full legal custody of her 7-year-old half-brother, Ireland.
"I feel like it was meant to be, and I feel like this was the path that we're both supposed to be going through. And I worked really hard for this, and I feel blessed,” Quinn said.
Others adopted through the program in the past, including best friends Jerika and Annie, returned to help celebrate.
“Back then, I lost a lot of connection to my family. I lost all of it, and now that I'm adopted, I have so much success in my sports and with my family,” Jerika said.
