Zaro's Bakery returns to the Bronx with grand opening

Zaro's Bakery held a grand opening Wednesday for its new store in the Bronx.
The new bakery is located right next to its original location on Hugh Grant Circle in Parkchester. The shop closed in 2015 after bakery owners say they chose not to renew their lease due to a rent dispute with the building's owner.
The original store was open for 56 years. Owner Stuart Zaro says he came to an agreement with the owner of the building before opening his new store.
Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. was alongside Zaro's owner during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Zaro says his original Bronx store employees have returned to work after being placed at a Zaro's Manhattan location for two years.
A quarter of Wednesday's proceeds will be donated to help support rebuilding Puerto Rico, Zaro says.
