Paterson police are asking the public for help locating a woman whom they fear may have been abducted and injured during a carjacking incident.
Authorities said Shanaya Coley, 24, was last seen around 11 p.m. Tuesday near Colonial Avenue in Paterson.
Police said  a witness reported hearing a woman screaming and putting up a fight with someone. The fight allegedly turned violent when the witness noticed the suspect pull out a knife to stab Coley. The witnesses said the suspect pushed Coley into her car and drove off.
Rachel Martin, Coley’s mother, said the only things left behind at the scene were her eyeglasses and a trail of her blood.
“Help me find my baby. That’s all I got. That’s my life,” Martin said.
Martin said her daughter, who has a 3-year-old son, was on her way to work at Eastern Christian’s Children Hospital in Wyckoff, where she worked as a nurse’s aide, when the incident happened.
Martin said her entire family is distraught and that she doesn’t’ have the heart to tell her grandson that his mother is missing. She is urging the public to reach out to police to help find her daughter.
“Please everybody out there in the streets, help me find my child. Just help me find my child. Let me bring her home,” Martin said.
Police said Coley was driving a 2013 Nissan Altima with New Jersey plates R74-HRX.
Anyone who may have information about the crime is asked to call the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office at 862-849-6019 or the Paterson Police Department at 973-321-1120.
