Police: Suspects hit off-duty NYPD officer with bottle, stole his gun
Police are searching for three people who stole an off-duty police officer's gun, injuring him in the process.
Authorities say the officer was hit over the head with a bottle in Mount Hope around 3 a.m. Sunday morning when a fight broke out near a nightclub on Carter Avenue.
One suspect is in custody, according to police, but three more people have not yet been apprehended, and the stolen gun is still missing.
A neighbor claims that he heard a gunshot around the time of the incident, but police say the only injury sustained was to the officer's head from the bottle.
The officer was taken to a hospital in stable condition. His identity has not been released but officials say he is 25 years old.
