ICE agents arrest 101 criminal immigration violators

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have arrested 101 people in a series of raids to apprehend undocumented immigrants who have also committed other crimes.
ICE officials say that arrests were made in 14 of New Jersey’s 21 counties. Of those arrested, 88 percent were convicted criminals and 80 percent of them had prior felony convictions, according to a news release.
The people arrested range in age from 20 to 71 years old and represented 31 countries. They were previously convicted of a large variety of crimes, including sexual assault, drug possession and aggravated assault.
“Because of the tireless efforts of these professional officers, there are 101 fewer criminals in our communities,” ICE field director John Tsoukaris said in a statement.
The arrests come days after ICE announced a 40 percent spike in administrative arrests nationwide over last year.
