MAPLEWOOD, N.J. (AP) -- A New Jersey Transit bus and a garbage truck have crashed head-on, killing the driver of the bus and injuring four other people.
The Essex County prosecutor's office says the crash happened Tuesday afternoon on Springfield Avenue in Maplewood.
The bus driver was taken to a hospital, where he later died. He's been identified as 65-year-old Larry Wiley.
NJ Transit said no passengers were on the bus at the time of the crash.
The driver of garbage truck and three passengers were taken to a hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
