Suffolk police say a man was killed when his vehicle veered off a roadway and struck a tree Saturday morning.

It happened in the northbound lanes of William Floyd Parkway south of Route 25A in Shoreham. Police say 32-year-old Michael Austin, of East Moriches, was behind the wheel of a Ford Ranger when his pickup truck left the roadway and crashed into a tree shortly before 7 a.m.

Austin was pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone who may have information on the crash to call them at 631-852-8752.
