Liquidation sales have begun at some Toys ‘R’ Us stores as the Wayne-based company begins the process of closing down all its stores in the United States.
Some customers who say that they haven’t been in a Toys ‘R’ Us in years flocked to some of the New Jersey locations to find a deal.
“A hundred dollars’ worth of stuff I got for like $30,” said one customer.
News 12 New Jersey found that entire shelves and even aisles had been wiped clean of merchandise in some stores. Electronics and furniture seemed to be the most coveted items.
The Babies ‘R’ Us in Paramus was also having a liquidation sale. Customers Jessica Cardona and Shanay Wiggins said that they have come back multiple times for deals.
“I'm going to come one more time next week to see what else is left,” Cardona said.
“Most of the store is pretty empty but they do have some good stuff left, some good sales,” said Wiggins.
Not all of the New Jersey locations are having their liquidation sales just yet. Some will do the sales at a later date. Customers should call the individual store to see when the sales begin.
The liquidation sales began on the same day that Toys ‘R’ Us founder Charles Lazarus died at age 94.
