A spring storm brought 6 inches of snow to some areas of western Connecticut, according to the National Weather Service.
Wednesday saw predictions of up to 12 inches, so residents were happy to receive a lot less.
"We're glad we wound up with this and not what they were saying," one resident said.
News 12 meteorologist Jenn McPadden says moist air met the snow at the shoreline and that the storm took a detour, moving more southeast than originally thought.
"We had very dry air overhead," McPadden says. "Dry air and high pressure from Canada suppressing the snow and keeping most of our snow accumulations along the shoreline."
Last March, Connecticut saw above-average temperatures.
