Leaders from Bridgeport, Trumbull and Fairfield are looking to improve school safety.
Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim brought mayors, police chiefs and school superintendents from the neighboring communities together to make sure school shootings like the recent one in Florida never happen again.
Ganim said his motivation for supporting common-sense gun laws comes as much from his role as a father as it does from his role as a mayor.
"My youngest son's a junior in high school, so I think about that every day," says Ganim.
The officials are all supporting legislation being considered by state lawmakers to ban bump stocks and ghost guns.
