Several people were seen jumping from a second-floor balcony to get away from flames following a fire in Edgewater.
The fire began Monday evening at a building on Old River Road.
A video shows witnesses pulling up ladders to help and people jumping.
According to witnesses, when they saw what was going on, they headed straight to help.
"We look up and there are two girls pounding on the front window, trapped inside,” says Sgt. James Dalton. “The normal entrance to the ballet studio was completely engulfed in flames. So they had nowhere to go.”
A handful of people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators believe the fire started on the first floor of the building, which houses a car wash, auto body shop and dance studio, before spreading to the second floor.
It's not known what sparked the fire.
