WILTON - The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth Monday morning to her third child -- a boy, who is fifth in line to the British throne.
The duchess and husband Prince William drove to St. Mary's Hospital in London early in the morning, and the 8 pound, 7 ounce boy was born at 11:01 a.m., with royal officials announcing the birth about two hours later.
After posing for dozens of photographers and camera crews outside the hospital, the family headed home, with the baby nestled securely in a car seat. Television news helicopters followed the royal Range Rover as it made the mile-long journey to the family's Kensington Palace residence.

William declared the couple "very delighted" with the new addition to the family.
Across the pond, Deb Hecht, the manager of English specialty and gift shop in Wilton, got busy decorating the shop to celebrate the royal arrival. The shop sells commemorative gifts like royal tea towels, wedding decorations and fine china celebrating royal events -- including the births of each royal baby.
"It becomes a family tradition to collect commemoratives and it is just a way to partake in something happy," says Hecht. "A lot of people do enjoy celebrating these special occasions even if... none of us are directly connected to the royals. But it gives us a happy connection."
