Sen. Menendez expresses concern over Pompeo secretary of state nomination

U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez says that he is concerned about the nomination of Mike Pompeo for secretary of state.
Pompeo passed a Senate committee by just one vote. He is expected to be confirmed to the position later this week. He has unanimous support from Republicans and backing from several Democrats.
But Sen. Menendez is not one of them.
“I have lingering concerns along three broad themes,” Menendez said. “Mr. Pompeo failed to express any tangible diplomatic strategies for which he would advocate to advance American interests. He failed to be forthright with the committee. And finally, I don't have a satisfactory answer to the question, 'Which Mike Pompeo am I asked to cast a vote on?'”
Sharp scrutiny is expected for Pompeo's potential replacement at the CIA, Gina Haspel.
