Best of the Bronx: Rapper Money I’M Countin'
Money I’M Countin’, or M.I.C., spoke with News 12 about how his experiences in the Bronx fostered his creativity through music.
The rapper grew up in University Heights on West 183rd Street. He said his rap career truly began in cafeteria during school.
“Someone would give a beat and I would write some rhymes,” he said.
Up until a few years ago, the rapper was behind the scenes – writing lyrics for different artists. He’s now pursuing his own independent career, opening up for fellow Bronx native A Boogie wit da Hoodie.
"When he started doing his thing, that really motivated me,” he said.
The grind continues for M.I.C. – performing, writing, and signing other artists. He says he is all about giving back to the community, volunteering at the Boys and Girls club since he was 14 years old.
One of his songs has received airplay on New York City’s Hot 97.
