Sports betting at Monmouth Park delayed until June

The head of Monmouth Park Racetrack says that the general public probably won’t be able to place bets on sports at the track until June.
CEO Dennis Drazin originally told News 12 New Jersey that betting would be allowed on Memorial Day, May 28. But he also said that if the state asked him to slow down on rolling out sports betting, he would.
Drazin says that there is apparently a bill in the state Legislature that would regulate sports betting in New Jersey, so he is going to wait on allowing bets.
“We’re partnered with the state. We want to work with the state,” he says.
Ceremonial bets will still take place on May 28 at a charity event with Gov. Phil Murphy, former Gov. Chris Christie and other state lawmakers.
The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday ruled in favor of New Jersey and lifted a federal ban on sports wagering.
