The Puerto Rican community of the Bronx gathered for a cultural festival Saturday in anticipation of National Puerto Rican Day.
The National Puerto Rican Day Parade has hosted the 152nd Street Cultural Festival since 1995.
The family-friendly event at Jackson Avenue is a precursor to the parade that will take place June 10 on 5th Avenue.
Community members enjoyed live music, face painting and a variety of Puerto Rican food between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The Parade Board tells News 12 that they have raised $200,000 to provide 100 scholarships to high school and college students in more than a dozen states. A portion of the funds is also set to be donated to students who live in Puerto Rico and those who were displaced after Hurricane Maria.
