One of four teenage suspects in a late-night attempted carjacking was arraigned today.
Antone Grant-Chalmers is being charged with attempted robbery, reckless endangerment and robbery by carjacking, among other charges.
Police say the wild scene all started around 9 p.m. Thursday at Shelton's community center. They say one of the teens knocked a woman over, tried to take her keys, and only stopped when her daughter, who was in the car, started to scream.
According to court documents, the four teens were seen in another area of Shelton on Fern Drive after the attempted carjacking, trying to steal other cars. But when a homeowner came out, the four fled, drove into Trumbull and ended up crashing on White Plains Road. They were all arrested.
Police are now looking into whether the teens were involved in a series of robberies last week.
"We're still investigating that. That is a strong possibility. We've had a lot of car break-ins over the past week, so has Trumbull,” says Detective Richard Bango.
Grant-Chalmers is being held on a $80,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court June 12.
