Glen Cove teachers rallied at a board of education meeting Wednesday night, saying they've been working without a contract for almost a year.
"We are very frustrated because every time we have to negotiate a contract, the district and the board of education don't settle it in a timely fashion," said Karen Ferguson, president of the district's teachers’ association.
Teachers, each wearing shirts saying "Contract Now," lined the halls and aisles of the auditorium where the board met.
Ferguson didn't disclose what exactly the association was asking for but said members had a list of changes they wanted to see. She said they have removed most of the demands but are still looking for a small pay increase.
"We haven't had a reasonable increase in many years," she said.
Superintendent Maria Rianna declined to comment at the meeting.
