THE BRONX -

A funeral was held Friday for a 3-year-old boy who was allegedly killed by his mother's boyfriend in the Bronx.

A service for Messiah Allen was held at the Pure Gospel Miracle Revival Center on Walton Avenue at 9 a.m.

Kenneth Lynch, 36, was charged with manslaughter in connection Allen's death last month.

Officials say the incident happened on May 24, inside of 1725 Bruckner Blvd. at the Sotomayor Houses around 11:30 p.m.

Police say they responded to a 911 call for a child that needed help inside of the home.

Investigators say they arrived and found Allen unconscious and unresponsive with trauma to his face and chest.

A city medical examiner ruled Allen died of blunt-force trauma to his head.
