Prosecutors: 3 men charged in connection with Asbury Park murder

Three men from Asbury Park have been charged in connection with a Thanksgiving-week murder in the town.
Prosecutors in Monmouth County made that announcement this afternoon.
Steven Taylor, 36, Michael Taylor, 33, and Avery Hopes, 23, have all been charged with conspiracy, murder, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession.
The murder happened Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017 around 10:30 p.m. on 150 Prospect Ave.
According to prosecutors, Denzel Morgan Hicks, 27, of Barnegat, was fatally shot multiple times while sitting in the driver seat of a 2017 Ford Expedition.
Gov. Phil Murphy went to Asbury Park two months ago to sign an executive order on simplifying gun violence reports online.
The city has recently seen several incidents of gun violence.
Most recently, police are looking into a shooting Sunday, June 3 on Langford Street that left one person in critical condition.
A 10-year-old boy was killed in a shooting earlier this year, and in a separate drive-by shooting, five people were hurt.
