Police: 1 dead, 1 critical after Plainfield shooting
Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Plainfield early Sunday morning.
Police say they responded to a ShotSpotter gun notification near New and West Fifth streets just before 1 a.m.
The Union County prosecutor says 34-year old Michael Welsh was shot and killed, and a 25-year-old woman seriously injured.
The female victim was hospitalized in critical condition.
Further details surrounding the incident were not immediately available.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
