Twenty-five students from the Brooklyn Democracy Academy graduated on Tuesday.
The day is extra special for the students as many have dealt with homelessness and lack of basic needs throughout their time in school.
The Brownsville school, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, has helped supply the students with toiletries and food, along with education.
Principal Dezann Romain says 10 students are graduating with full scholarships to play Division 1 basketball.
