Police have released new video in connection to a violent University Heights robbery.
The incident happened June 18 just after 6 a.m. when two suspects knocked 37-year-old Fernando Levano unconscious with a punch to the head. The incident occurred on Aqueduct Avenue and Buchanan Place.
The suspects left Levano in the middle of the street before making off with his phone and ID. They then went back to the scene and took photos of Levano on the ground.
A 17-year-old who claims to be in the surveillance video told News 12 that a custodian who works down the street at P.S. 91 arrived at the scene and immediately called 911.
Levano's siblings say they were waiting for him at home when the incident occurred.
"He never came home," says Levano's sister, Christina Zuniga. "We don't know what happened to him."
Police say the two suspects are in their 20s and have tattoos on their forearms.
The victim was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital with a fractured skull. He is listed in critical but stable condition.
Anyone with information on the attack is asked to call police.
