Relatives of a Brooklyn man shot and killed by an off-duty NYPD officer in 2016 said Tuesday they were still trying to cope with his death.
Delrawn Small confronted off-duty Officer Wayne Isaacs almost two years ago in an apparent road rage incident on Atlantic Avenue.
Isaacs gunned him down in the street in what his lawyer argued in court was self-defense.
A jury agreed in November, finding him not guilty of murder and manslaughter.
But relatives say Isaacs' initial claim that Small had assaulted him is contradicted by surveillance video.
And the slaying has traumatized them. Victoria Davis, Small's sister, says she's afraid of interacting with police now.
"After Delrawn was killed, the reality of being pulled over and not making it out alive...was true," she says.
The officer remains employed by the NYPD despite crowds of protesters rallying behind the Small family to oust him from the force.
"When Isaacs killed my brother, Isaacs was off duty," Davis says. "He was wearing civilian clothes and was in his own personal car."
The NYPD did not respond to a News 12 request for comment.
