Bronx teen caters his own Bar Mitzvah

A Bronx teen who has appeared on numerous cooking shows took on his greatest challenge yet last month: Catering his own Bar Mitzvah.
Sammy Voit is 13 years old and has proven his kitchen skills on “MasterChef Junior” and “Food Network Star Kids.“
He told News 12 that he has been cooking since he was 5 years old in the kitchen with his grandmother.
Last month, he catered his own Bar Mitzvah for close to 180 family and friends.
“It took a while. We were making food ahead of time and my parents stayed up in the morning helping,” said Sammy.
The teen also acts and travels to California for work. But it's behind the camera where he also hopes to make an impact.
With the money saved by catering his own Bar Mitzvah, the seventh-grader was able to donate the money to a Los Angeles-based organization that helps the homeless. He’s also making a documentary called “The Bus Stop” that puts a spotlight on the issue.
“I think kids can make a difference at any age,” said Sammy.
