As an NYPD detective continues to heal from a gunshot wound to the leg, religious leaders are praying for him and other officers working to keep the city safe.
The Bed-Stuy Clergy Council is calling on a higher power for the continued recovery of NYPD Detective Miguel Soto, who was shot while on duty last week in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
Police say he and his partner were in an unmarked police van when they noticed 33-year-old Kelvin Stichel, who was wanted for domestic armed robbery. Investigators say Stichel shot at the officers after identifying themselves and telling Stichel to show them his hands.
Clergy Council members say they take their job of praying over the community and the NYPD very seriously.
The ministers say they will not stop praying for a safer community.
