The 4,000 residents of the Marcy Houses in Bed-Stuy are finally getting a community center after two decades.
They've been pushing for the project for years, and now with millions in funding from City Councilman Robert Cornegy, Borough President Eric Adams and Mayor Bill de Blasio, they're getting it in a former police station that's been vacant for 15 years.
"It's great to have this for everyone to enjoy," says Caridad Torres.
Construction has already started and should be complete by 2019, according to Cornegy.
