A new art installation at the intersection of East Mosholu Parkway South and Grand Concourse was unveiled Monday, displaying quotes from Norwood residents.

The installation, called the Norwood Column, was created by artist Jenny Hung. 

The column was created in collaboration with the Jerome-Gun Hill Business Improvement District and the city's Department of Transportation art program, with a purpose of welcoming people into the district.

Norwood residents gave their thoughts on the community, from the history of the area, to what they love about it and what can be done differently to the Norwood Column. 

The column also features replicas of fonts from local advertisements, signs, shops and storefronts.

The column will be up for 11 months, and the signs will be switched out three times during this period.
