While many high schoolers are spending their summer at the beach or the pool with friends, others are spending more time in the classroom.
The Upward Bound program at Fairfield University is aimed at helping disadvantaged teens prep for college.
Students can attend classes during the school year or over the summer.
Upward Bound is offered across the country and is federally funded.
Fairfield University says 90 percent of its program’s high school seniors end up attending college.
